You should have been here
yesterday or perhaps that should read you should have been in 68, south
east Kent was perhaps an unlikely location for a growing Surfing scene,
but it had it all a surf club affiliated to the BSA with members winning
national contests, a surfboard company producing cutting edge boards that
were exported to
Europe, epic surf trips to unsurfed
areas of western Europe including the then communist Portugal. Kent might
not have had the best waves in the UK but what it lacked in quality waves
was more than made up for by the sheer enthusiasm and dedication of the
surfers, these pages set out to tell the story of this pioneering group of
surfers, click on the pictures on the right to explore the links.
